Mini-excavator EZ17e: emission-free, quiet, powerful

Image
With the fully electric mini-excavator EZ17e, the Emission-Free Construction Site is becoming a reality. (Munich, August 2020) Wacker Neuson is expanding its zero-emission range to include the electric mini-excavator EZ17e. With solutions by Wacker Neuson, an entire inner-city construction site can be operated fully emission-free and almost free of noise. Due to its specially developed battery technology, flexible charge management, and efficiency output, the compact excavator can be applied in as many ways as a conventional model of the same class, completely without compromise!   As Wacker Neuson has already shown many times, the company is thinking in terms of holistic solutions with its zero-emission series. “In 2015, we put the first battery-powered rammer on the market and from the start, designed a sustainable system for our customers’ purposes. Today, the modular battery can be used in seven units,” says Alexander Greschner, Sales Director of the Wacker Neuson Group. “Wit

The next wave of property development in Africa is coming

Image
Henning Rasmuss  Paragon Architects Director The past decade has seen South African property developers and investors forge their way up the African continent and then pull back. As they withdraw, a new wave of property progress is building – a more sustainable one - without them. Kevin Teeroovengadum The Africa Property Investment (API) Summit has tracked developments on the African property landscape for the last decade. As the continent’s real estate market has evolved, the API Summit has seen business models change significantly, adapting to the challenges and opportunities in Africa. Most recently, the API Summit has witnessed development on the continent slow, leading to a better balance of demand and supply. And, with market fundamentals remaining in place, Standard Bank’s Head of Estate Finance, African Regions Niyi Adeleye, who is among the impressive line-up of speakers at the next API Summit in South Africa this October, says that growth is inevitable. “The precise tim

SKF and University of Twente open state-of-the-art technology center

Image
SKF and the University of Twente are combining their research expertise to drive advances in an area crucial to rotating machinery performance: grease lubrication. SKF and the University of Twente which have collaborated for over 30 years have launched a dedicated SKF University Technology Center (UTC) for grease lubrication in rolling bearings. “Around 80% of industrial bearings are grease-lubricated,” says Professor Piet Lugt, SKF’s Senior Scientist. “There are clear benefits to be gained from a greater understanding of the characteristics and behaviour of lubricant greases and their application.” SKF has a number of collaborations with leading technical universities around the world. Professor Lugt has been a part-time Professor at the University of Twente since 2011. His teaching and research focus on bearing failure mechanisms and life prediction, two key areas which are central to helping bearing users to get a better performance from their machinery. He has won a numbe

Breaking efficiency and productivity barriers wth Atlas Copco pneumatic breakers

Image
The powerful, light-weight and ergonomic RTEX and TEX pneumatic breaker ranges from Atlas Copco exemplify a perfect balance between great performance and high comfort.   The advanced technology in breaking efficiency and ergonomics that Atlas Copco has incorporated in the design of the latest RTEX medium breaker sets a world-leading benchmark in pneumatic technological innovation. This breaker owes its record-high breaking efficiency to a number of ground-breaking design features that include: A patented design featuring a Constant Pressure Control principle that encompasses a constant pressure chamber which improves energy transfer, providing up to 40% more energy output than conventional units. The machine also features a longer piston compared to conventional breakers, which increases the interaction time with each blow. The efficient stroke mechanism also radically lowers energy consumption.   As a result the RTEX, weighing only 25 kg, has a breaking power that matches much heavi

SKF Internal Bearing Puller Kits for safe, hassle-free bearing dismount

Image
The SKF TMIP and TMIC Series of Internal Bearing Puller Kits are designed for dismounting of bearings from housings in applications where the fit is on the outer ring.   Manufactured from high strength materials for optimum robustness and durability, the Internal Bearing Pullers are designed for a wide range of bearing bore diameters and boast a unique SKF design that reduces dismounting time while keeping safety top of mind. Ergonomically designed for enhanced user safety, the sliding hammer allows high impact forces to be applied.   Three kits make up the SKF TMIP Series for dismounting of bearings with bore diameters of between 7 to 28 mm, 30 to 60 mm and 7 to 60 mm presented by the recently unveiled TMIP 7-60 Internal Bearing Puller. The SKF TMIP pullers are manufactured from high strength chrome-coated engineering steel for optimum strength, corrosion protection and durability.   The patented SKF TMIP 7-60 Puller kit includes two ergonomic sliding hammers that ma
